This series of paintings explores ideas of embracing and holding, primarily the embracing of an egg by the womb. In some instances dense pools of color are nestled safely, intact, surrounded by a nutrient perimeter. In other moments, the egg is obliterated, mutated, separated, and divided creating unexpected beauty out of a chaotic encounter.
All paintings in this series are 11” x 14”, oil on canvas.
Pieced is a series of small colorfields created from hand-dyed canvas. In this body of work, I wanted to create more dimensionally while maintaining a focus on building distinct color harmonies. Each collage is held together with straight pins which lends a sense of fragility to each composition. Collectively they work together as a collection of delicate hand held tapestries.
Works are variable in size, gouache dyed canvas, straight pins.
I have always loved the color indigo. For me, it is the most mysterious of the blue hues, recalling the twilight and midnight zones of the ocean. At its depths indigo verges on inky black which heightens its seductive nature.
This piece titled, Me, Myself, and Eye, is a cynaotype print created during my residency at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Using my body, I created a scene of duality, using two sides of myself to represent the many dichotomies of being.

In this multi-media series I explored the dynamics of inter and intracellular structures. Treating the surface of the canvas like skin or a membrane, I penetrated the surface with a needle and thread, stitching lines to defined and echoed organic circular forms.

In Frozen, I incorporated bleach as a paint medium to write and transform a surface made of stretched heavy-weight denim. Song lyrics and my photography bring a diaristic presence to the piece as well as lending dimensional surface intrigue.
